The first album with the 'European Quartet' and a stunner it is. Essential and a leap forward for acoustic jazz in 1974. A must have for fans of Jarrett and jazz.

"Sprial Dance" is an absolutely astonishing piece of music. Each instrument is simply on FIRE. The bass and drums are VIOLENT, almost EXPLOSIVE. Garbarek has pretty much never had a finer moment than right here. He completely crushes the convoluted melody with such passion. And Jarrett adds some beautiful colour, pounding out suspended chords and allowing improvisational flourishes. It's just incredible music.
