Intense – Breathless / Streams Of Thought

Just scored this on the cheap at a second-hand shop—the vinyl gods has blessed me with this find… Beautiful jazzy breaks and atmospheric sound what more do you want? This is just one of those tracks from that era that is constantly on repeat!

Properly stamped as AA, both sides feature beautifully constructed breaks and jazzy elements to move your soul. Intense's best 12". Breathless is a fantastic bridge from hard drums to something with a little more soul, and Streams Of Thought.. damn, how could anyone rate this less than 5/5?

Breathless really is an amazing, atmospheric, amen classic. A must own slice of wax. Although both sides are brilliant, Breathless is the one for me.

For those uninitiated, Intense is Beau Thomas, Dan Duncan, and Simon Vispi, producers extraordinaire. Look at any number of classic drum'n'bass and chillout releases and you're bound to see one of these three credited in some way(Simon helped produce LTJ Bukem's brilliant "Journey Inwards" album), so it comes as no surprise that they do some amazing tunes.

This is quite possibly the crème de la crème. Took me forever to find it(first heard on Bukem's Mixmag comp); but once I did, that was it. "Breathless" is a brilliant rolling slice of Amen-break genius; awesome chords and a drum line that'd wake the dead. "Streams of Thought" is the shining gem here; lush pads, awesome synths; a more minimal drum line helps this one move along beautifully.

If you can find it, own it in any way you can. Treasure it. Your ears will thank you.
