This Acid Bass line has been engraved in my brain since I 1st heard it in a rave in 1990.
I always wondered what synthesizer was used for this. ?? would love to know

I found this record for 1€ at a flea market today. My idea was to sell it. But this record is amazing. Haunting vocals with a close to perfection acid bassline. Great great record!

One of the first dance records I bought after hearing it played on a pirate radio station in Birmingham UK and still one of my favourites to this day - If you haven't got it - buy, grab or steal a copy - An absolute classic.

Now that I have some more time, I am sorting out a lot of stuff. I recently found some old long forgotten mix tapes which I had lying around. One of the highlight is always when you hear this track. It remains one of my favorite tracks. Very inspirational.

I think you can categorize this particular track as a 'Boccaccio anthem'. Legendary DJ's like Olivier Pieters, Marc Grouls and Eric Beysens were probably spinning this track in that legendary club at that time.

The producers are Ferre Baelen, also known as Dr. Fernando for his famous techno tracks later on, and prolific producer Rembert de Smet. There is only one word to describe this track: Acid. Right from the start you are welcomed by one of the most explosive Acid-lines ever. I even remember trying to emulate it in my own hobby production experiments, ha!

Something Scary is a perfectly mastered and well balanced track. The Acid-line might seem outrageous at first but the guys managed to fit it in pretty good.

The track is pretty straightforward New Beat: dark, mysterious and slow. The female vocals from the movie sample are great and fit the track perfect: 'I was alone in my room, something grabbed me and smothered me'

This track could also be categorized as 'Hard Beat'; The phenomenon that was a somewhat logical extension from New Beat.

Although painfully slow by today's way to fast standards this tune still gives me goosebumps. One of the first bits of electronic dance music I got into, it's acid line is as fat as any I have ever heard. Couple this with the frightened woman's voice sample that goes:

'I was alone in my room...something grabbed me, and smothered me.'

And you have a tune that was on a darker vibe from most US or UK Acid coming out at the time.

New Beat at its very best.
