Reviews
- I think this is definitely the weakest album from Hooverphonic (I haven't listened to the atm latest "The Night Before" though). The high review rating must be due to it being a double album, but in my book quality>>quantity. The second CD contains different versions of the songs on the first one, and they are more interesting, bringing value to the release, but not enough to justify a 4/5 IMO.
Past are the angelic vocals of the early albums; the singing is more harsh and even aggressive at times. The sounds are still mostly smooth, but the album is more in minor key and dramatic, in parts orchestral, which is a clear diversion from the previous works. It is still pretty fine, if you take it for what it is, but even in "absolute" sense, I don't think "No More Sweet Music" comes close to the level of the first two albums - it's rather true to its name.
