'Something Unreal' comes off like Photek in a very angry mood. Choice cut!!!!!
The vox sample comes from Cuba Gooding's 'Happiness Is Just Around The Bend' (also used most notoriously by Nightmare's On Wax). Ironic, with the end result being anything but...
Kid Lib deliverers some serious Omni Trio style vibes on 'The Rifle', its a masterfully crafted track dropping mathematical cut up wizardry the way we old schoolers like it.
One of Ed (Tim Reaper's) best, better than even some of the '97 tunes of the time. The amount of quality this man puts out is nothing short of staggering, alongside co-conspirator Phineus II.
Absolute fu#%@in monster. Both sides killer. Reaper side like some futurist hybrid '97 dark roller, Kid Lib side beautiful deep atmos 94/95 amen workout sampling the mighty Rakim. IMO the best singular release of 2014 for the sound! BUY IT NOW!!!
About my side, it came from an argument I'd had with a mate who thought I was using too much amens in my tracks, after I sent him a track I'd done that he liked but he hated when the amen kicked in later on in the track. After the heated debate with him, I felt like I had a point to prove to him so made Something Unreal & it took about 9 mixdowns before the final premaster was ready for release.
And about the other side, I was talking to Kid Lib on Xmas Day (he was pretty much the only other guy online on AIM not doing Xmas things like me) 2 years ago & he had made me a sample pack of random things a few days prior, which I had to make a track out of. I didn't finish the track but I ended up making him a sample pack of things to use in return & he made The Rifle (& another unreleased track) in a few hours on the day. Still one of my favourite tracks by him to this day.
