Reviews
- this Album is awesome, and its not so funny as you might think.
Greetings to Stephen Hillenburg (R.I.P.) and Liberace (also R.I.P) - Bizarre in the truest sense of the word. Naturally bizarre might be a better way to put it. This is just how he interprets early Americana. And that production! Sonically mind-blowing.
- A NZ version of this exists. It was (I think) on a double flipback, fully laminated cover by CELLO KRAFT, tri-tone labels. Or maybe it was the triple flipback cover, front laminated with the same labels.
- This album also had a 1968 U.S. 8-track tape release on Reprise Records (Warner Bros).
Cat. # 8RM 6292. Issued on a white Lear Jet cartridge. Manufactured by Ampex - I've always been a big Tiny fan. His debut LP is easily his best. I've got several copies of the US pressing, plus the CD (it was included as part of a Rhino Handmade box set of Reprise recordings). Besides "Tip-Toe" and "Sunlight" (the two tracks non-Tiny fans tend to know), "Front Porch", "Satisfied With Life", "Ever Since You Told Me" and "Babe" are all great. Wouldn't quite file it under "lounge" (and I've seen it referred as everything from outsider music to psychedelic pop), but somewhere in the "psychedelic Rudy Vallee" genre (if there was such a thing).
