Reviews
- Edited 7 months agoJesus Christ, what a piss-poor job they did on side 1. The grooves don't have enough room to accommodate the dynamics, I guess, because if you're listening to a quiet part and a louder part is about to happen, you'll get the "ghost" of it before it happens. (Tested on multiple turntables.)
Just did a shoot-out with a Sundazed version that Kevin Gray cut (that unfortunately isn't mine) and the Sundazed played *beautifully*.
Side 2 played fine. The bonus disc is nice but again, pressing quality is a little iffy. What a shame. - It's true, this is a bad pressing. Mastered too quiet first off, so you have to crank it twice as loud as the average record thus bringing up any noise from your amp/phono stage, and then it's full of loud pops and ticks that are extra annoying because the music is pressed so quietly. It will have to do until I come across a better pressing that isn't super expensive.
- My Anthology Recordings copy is crystal clear. No pops, no surface noise at all (played on a Rega Plannar 2 with a Goldring Elektra cartridge).
- My copy is fine. Pretty clear and smooth. Also bought it used, which makes me surprised it turned out this good despite the comments below. A lovely album altogether. Hopefully some others who purchased it had similar reactions.
- As per the 2015 comment below, this is a terrible pressing. Inexcusable flaws throughout, the kind of distortion that lasts a full revolution and is easily visible with a wave editor. Avoid at all costs.
- Edited 8 years agomy copy is very badly pressed. full of surface noise, pops and so many other bad sounds.
