A great masterpiece for the ages. Nothing more to say.

The band Super Furry Animals (from Wales) is known for the experimentation and unpredictability. Album Rings Around The World (2001) was also praised because of its accessibility and the fact that this is the first SFA-plate was that you could listen at all, but also criticized for being correct too little ' SFA ' was. The new cd Phantom Power (2003) sounds quite different. The experiment is now not only remained, flirted with electronica and dance but is the sixties psychedelia and westcoast pop that dominated, complete with pedal steel. The result is a great album, which, however, needs time to convince. Who expected the same type of album as Rings Around The World will probably be slightly disappointed waiting for a burst of guitars or electronic sounds. But who hears these expectations release beautiful, imaginative songs in which singer/songwriter Gruff Rhys on highly refined way describes the State of the world. Phantom Power is above all a warm plate and with songs like Sex, War Robots, The Piccolo Snare, Venus & & Serena and The Undefeated is Rings Around The World not only matched, but certainly surpassed.
