Here's what I wrote about 604 in 2001:

Edgy analog synth-pop that is part Stereolab, part Human League, and as simultaneously dreary and fashionable as Pet Shop Boys ever were.

As for the vocals, it's never certain whether it's verse or chorus or something in between. They are delivered with such stoicism that it's jarring to realize that they are set to some of the catchiest pop melodies to arrive in the last 2 years.

"Playgirl" is a prime example, with lyrics like "Play girl, choking on cigarettes will get you along, hey play girl" and "Northern lights catch you coming down, sleep your way out of your hometown"—hardly something to sing with a smile on your face, but damn if they don't make you want to do it.

The press release offers better comparisons:

• 'methadone ABBA'
• 'Kraftwerk meeting Nico in the 24 hour chemist'
• 'the hit stage version of Brave New World'
• 'a teasing glimpse of how Britney Spears might have sounded, had she been born in the GDR and a heroin addict........'

All are accurate descriptions.

A great record. I love chilling out, making out, and getting down to this record. Despite denying the influence Kraftwerk has had on their music - Ladytron is a pretentiously delightful gem amongst many electro-wannabes out there...

THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING! It really takes you to a place where you are a powerful French woman with a glass of champagne and a cigar in yr hand. They are keyboardists from all around the world, 2 girls, 2 guys. I beleive 1 girl is from France, 1 girl is from New York, 1 guy is from Germany, and the other guy is from Austria. I could be wrong but they are so great with the 4 keyboards all playing different things at once, its so amazing. Driving down the street, or sitting with manotonous company, this album is a great, multi-cultural, a disco influenced listen. Check this album out, i know you will not be dissapointed! DISCOTRAXX is the best!!!!
