Reviews
- The second edition of the label compilation series contains the highlights of
Pulver 021 (Dublex Inc. – Eight Ears Remixed plus previously unreleased Mixes)
Pulver 022 (V.A. – Pulverising Blue)
Pulver 023 (Inverse Cinematics . Airways)
Pulver 024 (Dutch Rhythm Combo – Venom)
Here we go again… about a half a year after the release of the Dublex Inc. album ‘Eight Ears’, the quartet is back with a collection of amazing remixes.
Simon V (Santorin Records) and Ruben Garcia AKA Watch TV of Hi Top Recordings, Madrid, did remixes of ‘She’ll Stay’. Ruben took punchy horns and the vocals of Wayne Martin to create a hard-hitting Funky Breaks mix that shows a great understanding of all that is Dublex Inc. Brassy! Simon did a great D’n’B Mix. Newcomer Paul Yassin delivers a brilliant peak time mix that transcends funky house and dark tech breaks and flaunts the technical advancement of this engineer whiz. Eva Be from Berlin’s Sonar Kollektiv delivers a spaced out Dub Version of “Sound of the Ebu”.
The Uptown Felaz from Budapest/ Hungary, known for their releases on Dom Servini’s “Wah Wah 45” label, coming up with this crazy, extraordinary hardcore percussion bomb.
Landegaard who’s actually an old friend of us, dropped by in the office one day and left his demo cd on our desk when he left. One or two spliffs later we didn’t get these pipe sounds out of our heads anymore… Sensecity is a collaboration of Dublex Inc.’s Felix Stecher and Michel Baumann (“Stick da phonk”/ Pulverising!Red, better known as Jackmate, Soulphiction, Supatone…..) The original track was recorded a couple of years ago during a studio session with singer Michelle Tabu.
It’s not even a year since we introduced Danilo and Joachim’s “Detroit Jazzin” (Pulver 016), which was one of the best selling releases on Pulver Records ever. It appeared on every advanced clubjazz loving DJ’s playlist and was even nominated by Gilles Peterson for the “worldwide track 2004”.
Ten months later we are proud to release the follow up productions “Airways” and “Create my U-Inverse” and “it’s Music”
For "Venom", Felix Haaksman put together a real combo: Joe Dukie sets the pace with his velvet and soulful voice, Mads Krabbe from Kopenhagen brings in the bass and Fat Freddys Drop main horn man Toby Laing picks up the rhythm with his trademark trumpet sound. A Dutch, German, New Zealand, Denmark jam session with a unique, light and airy summer vibe. London´s hot ticket remixer Dr. Rubberfunk provide extra grooviness. And for sure will intensify the Dutch Rhythm Combo´s DJ rotation.
