Big, bassy, dark and heavy, funky melodious trancey affair with real authority lol

Mix #1 sets the tone for where he’s headed next few years, a departure from mid 90’s epic prog house for sure. He begins with some very satisfying spacey fair (liquid language) then adroitly segways in to deeper, darker, groovier territory via Pocket, Wonkey (belter) - with classics like Danny Tenaglia’s Elements, Down the River etc - It pops out at the end with Albion.

Depends where you sit with all this. And if I’m honest at the time all the heavy stuff in between I wore the wheels of my Walkman out fast forwarding and rewinding to avoid it. Retrospectively I do really enjoy this mix however. Mesmerising, subtle transitions and changes of gear, with great tribal rhythms… on a big sound system in a club, could imagine it being devastating. Some folk seem to take issue with Albion at the end. I love it. It’s a sweet bubbly reprise after a deep dark dive.

Mix #2 is the generic prog house trance thing that sounds a bit dated second half - there’s some good tracks to be found... There are only so many times you can listen to PVD’s words - although I really like the build of the first 6 or 7 tracks. Beginning with Fata Morgana track (ace, darn pricey now) he’s building and layering in his unique way with gusto and feeling. Kobayashi into Autobahnana is something else with a throbbing bass line and those freeway sounds… it’s hard not to be moved… easing out with Steel Blue. It’s inspired. He plateaus with PVD and then he ramps up the trance freneticism with a pair of Pablo Gargano tracks.

Certainly some great moments, and his mixing is nigh on perfect.

Actually, track 1-12 is listed in liner notes as "Psycho Samba" by "Lando" (it is misprinted on back cover as "Samba" by "Lando Psycho"). I believe the liner notes are correct - reference https://www.discogs.com/Lando-Psycho-Samba-Magic-Digital-Drum/release/165618.

The version of TCM's Keep Hope Alive isn't the original version and it is far too hard and goa-esque to be BT's remix --- is this a john digweed remix?
