Reviews
Show All 34 Reviews- It's fine. Very loud and compressed, not a wide soundstage, but everything is still reasonably audible.
- Similar to morning glory, this remastered reissue sounds poor and dull especially on tracks like columbia and slide away.
- Sorry. . but I think some of the reviewers appear to have had bad luck with their pressings!
My copy has two perfectly flat records, without any clicks/ pops/ crackles,l etc.. The original release from Creation may be better, but back then I was only interested in the 7" singles, so this is definitely a worthy purchase! - I'll have to join the consensus here: the sound quality of this is not particularly good. It is obviously pressed from the same low-resolution digital master as the CD, but I think it sounds even worse than the original CD. It sounds thin, lifeless and very low-resolution digital - kind of like an 80s CD, but with lower volume and less low-end. It's just as brickwalled as the CD as well. Don't buy this, it is a waste of money, unless you only want it for collectible reasons. If you actually want it because you want to listen to it, just save your money and buy the much cheaper CD which sounds the same, or if you can afford it, save the money for the expensive original pressing or the 2009 reissue. If you are going to listen to this, you will definitely need an equalizer on your amp because there is no bass here at all unless you turn it up. With EQ you can partly solve the "thinness" problem, but it won't sound good anyway.
To be fair, the pressing quality is not that bad - there is not a lot of surface noise or pops here, but that doesn't justify the poor audio quality which in my opinion is a worse problem. - Not unlistenable, but just very poor in comparison to the excellent 2009 reissue and the FANTASTIC 1994 original pressing.
- My copy arrived by mail in end August but has been sitting on the shelf until now as the one I (by habit) listen to is this one:

The remaster is more precise sounding and definitely (Maybe...) has a better, clean separation. No point in buying the original if you can find a copy of issue at a reasonable price, unless you are a collector.
