Reviews
Show All 21 Reviews- This remaster is Fantastic! Of all the current Zeppelin album Remasters, This album Definitely sounds the best! There is no acceptable negative thing to say about the sound. It’s Punchy, Loud, and the sound stage is Wide. Every detail is presented perfectly. The bass is Strong! I Still can’t believe this is digitally remastered. I just got the Robert Ludwig Hot Mix Finally! It is a VG+ Monarch (RL and SS on both sides) And No Joke… I was Totally shocked and a bit disappointed that there really isn’t a real noticeable difference! I wanted to know just how much better this album could sound than it does on this remaster. I strongly believe that they used Ludwig’s mastering notes on this pressing of Zeppelin 2. Because they’re literally almost identical. Stop chasing the Ludwig Hot Mix for hundreds of dollars and get this! Cuz the difference in sound simply does not justify the cost difference. Nobody can rightly complain about the sound of this record At All! I love both my copy of this and my Ludwig. They’re Twins! Only that my copy of this remaster has No surface noise like the Ludwig does. Really, that’s the only difference
- Being honest I would say this copy sounds great , the only thing I did notice though was it was quick to develop a static sound.
- I´ve done a back to back comparison to a 1969 RE press, which I finally got hold of the other day (cheaper than this copy!). On my current system it is like night and day. This pressing is flat and whatever "punch" there is, sounds distorted and "maxed out" on high volume.
My 69 copy can be played on 20% higher volume (didn´t try higher) without any distortion and without my ears getting tired. The dynamic range difference is also huge. While this copy keeps the "width" dynamics, there is no depth and no "volume range". Also feeling like precense and details such as echoes and delay effects are more or less abcent.
I tried listening to the album on spotify through some $80 computer speakers and it sounded better than this press.
Home Setup
Player: Rega P3 with elys
pre amp: Schiit Freya Plus with JJ tubes
power amp: XTZ A100 a2-300
Speakers: QLN prestige - 2020 - why the hell did they decide to put the sticker on the actual album cover instead of it’s shrink-wrap…
- This pressing sounds muddy and pretty awful with my new speakers which have otherwise vastly improved listening to my collection.
- I don't like very much this press. The sound is ok but it don't sound naturally. It is a little to forced on high and medim freqvency. The low freqvency is also a little amplifid but is ok,
