- Edited one year agowho would have thought that 20yrs later after 2020, this band predicted the future.
- Bought this at a local car boot sale for a pound a few years back. What a find, considering the crazy prics this is now going for.
- This album literally introduced me to the old school hardcore/jungle/dnb/rave/gabber scene (or whatever you want to call it). In my musical habits, it marked a before and an after, being that in my country (Argentina) the success of this album was so great that the related genres began to be called altern techno (at least during the 90's). As a duo, since their previous Nexus 21 project they were certainly innovative and highly inspiring to other musicians who started out in the detroit techno style during that years, while this album was their pinnacle.
- Like the first reviewer i have just managed to get a mint copy for a reasonable price. This album holds its price more consistently than any other rave album-Compilation. That tells you some think. All the tracks our brilliant rave stompers recieving massive play at large scale raves. If your into your old skool you will no that altern 8 appeared on "top of the pops" sporting there whacky image. They got the camera man to zoom in on the "vicks vapour rub".A nudge'nudge wink'wink to the ravers. which completly by passed the bbc sensors ! Because they just did not get it.I think this album is excellant but the prodigy's experience expanded version is just a little bit better sounding thats my personal opinion thats not to say this is any less of an album. You will notice there tracks appeared in most compilations this shows how popular they were. Even thou some of the tunes have a commercial feel to them they have aged extremely well.I play the cd all the time my favorites our "Move My Body"and infiltrate 202
- Edited 20 years agoIn my opinion, this is a far superior album to 'The Prodigy Experience', which came out at roughly the same time : both
groups were quite revolutionary in that they were trying to produce an album using a form of music most thought was 'throw-away' at best. Virtually every track on this album has stood the test of time, and it serves as a great snap-shot of hardcore in 1992. - These can change hands for daft money so it took me a while to get hold of a mint copy for a decent price. Quality good length album of breakbeat/hardcore - anyone who has seen Altern-8 live will know what they're all about. Each track is well produced, loads of bass, samples and some tracks with vocals. My favourites are Infiltrate 202 (obviously), Frequency and Armageddon.
- I've finally managed to get hold of this album, which I've been trying to do for years and I'm not disappointed. There are some classic rave tunes on this album and you can almost imagine yourself stood in a field in the middle of the night surrounding by ravers! This album is a must have for any fan of the early 90's rave sound.
TOP ONE, NICE ONE, GET SORTED!
