I think this is actually one of my favourite works from vsnares. On a lot of his previous stuff, even Rossz to an extent, the breaks are fast and intense but they sound kinda random, and if there was any melody it was often taken straight from a sample. This album tho sounds much more composed and deliberate. "10th Circle of Winnipeg", "1000 years", "Amazon" and "Shaky Sometimes" are the best examples of this, all of them have a consistent groove with a lot of instrumentation. I think "1000 years" is actually one of his best tracks ever, it starts with an interesting melody, then it gets really intense without missing a beat. It has some funny lyrics too, such a fun listen!

Also find myself digging the "creepy lovesong" theme throughout this album, Aaron shows us many ways he can be a bit of a creep, from the unhinged yells of joy in "Your Smiling Face", to the details of his penis in "My Love Is a Bulldozer", it's a little gross but it's never genuinely offensive or mean which makes it feel tongue in cheek. His voice is kinda crap yeah but if you're judging this based on that you're missing the point entirely, this would make no sense with an actual professional singer on it. IMO its supposed to be a personal album about him and how bad at love he is (or something like that) so it makes perfect sense for his bad singing to be on it. It's not THAT bad anyway like it's breakcore what do u expect frank sinatra level shit?

It does drag a bit in the second half tho. "She Runs" and the last three tracks are kinda dull compared to the first 6 but they're still decent.

I actually really enjoy the shit singing on it. It's kind of Bowie in its way. Either way, I think it fits the album perfectly.

I forgot about Aaron last years, but now this is a good album by Mr Snares. The title track is the highlight, then "She Runs" and "Shaky Sometimes" are superb as well. There are too many singing Interludes, and the album is short, but overall very enjoyable. Although not as excellent as "Winter in the belly of a snake" and "Find Candace", his masterpieces.

As you can read in the other reviews, Aaron's voice sucks, very hard, but ironically matches the disturbed music. Now, talking about the music, well, you have to know is pretty good, a mix of acid, breakcore and jazz, with some classical, as usual a good mix from Venetian Snares. I think like the user "noizstepper" that Venetian Snares reach his artistic peak and contribution to the music history with the album "Rossz Csillag Alatt Született", you can no get anything better in his discography, and even in other electronic from the XXI century artist (along with Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada... and a few more). That album proves the reasons to call Aaron a music genius, but this 2014 album is not for you, if you expect something near to the Hungarian bad star. Maybe this album (My Love Is a Bulldozer) could be an statement to the pop music, actually has some sort feeling to pop, with all the vocals and everything, this could be his more "accessible" album on his discography, I don't exactly how could be accessible but it feels like. Anyway, if you have been a long time fan of Venetian Snares, I recommend you to listen this new album, you probably wouldn't like it, but you have to test it for yourself, and if is the first time you come to listen Aaron's work, I highly recommend you to listen first "Born Under a Bad Star", and start from there.

yea, you can say this is not really something you would not expect of him and now we know that aaron is not the best singer at all, but imo this work is a typical vs work (if one could say). His disharmonic vox integrates very good into the disturbed emotion of his tracks. In some of the songs (your smiling face) he even remind me a bit of the broken songs of David Bowie. That's what brings him definately to what he became: avantgarde pop on a very high level. So My Love is a bdz is only another new VS Work. If you ask me he reached his innovative peak with 'rossz csillag...'. So you decide: even stay with shitfuckers or enjoy something more tangible, but still music far from any masses.
If you do not care this work you definately miss some damn good acid doom jazz numbers!

Sounds like a beefed up version of Rossz featuring Aaron's vox on several of the tracks. His lack of vocal prowess and this being really nothing new makes this, imo, not worth listening to. Tired and boring.

I must say I'm disappointed with this release, as it sounds very similar to some of his previous work, same breaks, same synths, same gimmicks all over again. The only innovation here seems to be the almost constant use of these very annoying vocals.
I think Snares can do a lot better, as with Cubist Reggae, which showed a very original sound, whether you enjot it or not.
