Notes

Two variants exist:

Original press (variant 1) in a generic Danica Records sleeve:

"DANICA RECORDS [italics]
A DIVISION OF C.W. PAAS, INC. [italics]
417 South Dearborn Street · Suite 220 · Chicago, Illanois 60605 U.S.A. · Telephone (312) 663-1370 · Telex: 287760 PAAS UR · Facsimile: (312) 663-3128 [italics]
ART DIRECTION: RITA MacDONALD/BRUCE MATEER
WARNING: UNAUTHORIZED REPRODUCTION OF THIS RECORDING IS PROHIBITED BY FEDERAL LAW AND SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. [italics]"

The runout etchings are scribed by hand and begin on each side with 3 tiny dots in an upright triangle configuration as in the mathematical proof, the therefore sign "∴". The ® symbol that appears on the Side A etching only, is more of a loosely hand drawn "R" encircled in a very loosely hand drawn circle.

An alternative press (variant 2) appears to have identical labels to variant 1, but with a darker bolder print used. Plain card sleeve.

The etching ∴ : A DAN 1610 SIDE - A ® 2 : of variant 1 has been altered to ∴ : D DAN 1610 SIDE - A ® 2 : and the "A" in "SIDE - A" has been scored through.

The etching ∴ : B DAN - 1610 - B - 1 of variant 1 has been altered to ∴ : C DAN - 1610 - B - 1

Yep. This is the one. IMHO the greatest house record of all time. Goosebumps in 1988 when I first heard it, goosebumps over 20 years later: what a tune!

Everyone who loves house music knows many tunes that made the hair on the back of their neck stand up when they first heard them. When that tune is still doing it 20 years later you know it's a bona fide classic.

Frankie Knuckles created other great house music, but this is surely his finest hour. The keys riff alone is worth the price of admission (see SL2 - DJs Take Control), but when combined with the bassline, overall production values and that vocal, it's a credible candidate for best house record ever. And it was made in 1987.
