Notes

WITH co-production credit for MJ on rear of sleeve (see here for version without the co-production credit: Thriller = スリラー)

Issued with obi in gatefold sleeve with 2 inserts: a glossy 10-page fold out booklet + single-page double-sided black and white Japanese information sheet. Last 4 pages of the 10-page booklet fold out into a double-sided poster of MJ (standing in purple tracksuit/reclining in white suit with tiger cub).

Blue obi features a gold star and black box; the gold star advertises "The Girl is Mine", "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" as being 3 major hit singles, thus indicating a repress.

It’s all a matter of opinion but I’ve been through quite a few different pressings over the years and this one is one of best, though I’m still to find one better than the first UK pressing.

I decided to get this edition because of its good reputation and to see if it would fix the sibilance problems of my 1982 US copy. Honestly, it doesn't sound any better, it has the same (or more sibilance than the other one). Other than the nice packaging, the pretty OBI and the booklet with pictures, I don't see the point in getting this for sound reasons at the price it's selling for now. Better save your money and get a Us edition.

This Japanese press of MJ’s "Thriller" is legit. Popped it on my turntable and wow, the clarity is just unreal. No crackle, no fuzz, just smooth tunes. The gatefold sleeve is slick too. Never thought I’d be this pumped about an album I’ve heard a million times!

Definitely my best sounding album. Very dynamic and zero background noise.

My copy includes a third insert with stickers from the album Victory by the Jackson 5.

I can only second the euphoric reviews. The pressing quality is top notch, the vinyl itself plays as silent as a CD. However, it is cut quite hot, high range is a bit more aggressive here than on other e.g. European versions.

Absolutely and undoubtedly five stars for this release. Awesome sound - just the right one (soft and tight), thick gatefold, cool additional materials.
                Dead quiet surface.

Phenomenal! What a fantastic sounding record. Such dynamics, so much punch. Not the biggest MJ fan, but this pressing sounds AMAZING! Would be very interested to know how this compares to the UHQR.

I impulse-bought this during a recent trip to Japan and can confirm the many good reviews here. I also have a 1982 US pressing and while this Japanese press doesn't blow it out of the water, it is noticeably better, even to my layman's ears. I think the dead silent vinyl contributes a lot towards that. I already loved Thriller, but this pressing makes me want to spin it even more than usual, just because the sound quality is that good.

What can i say...must have! Great dynamics, balanced, powerful stereo stage! The vinyl is silent, just the usual japanese high pressing quality!
