Wishful and unconfirmed thinking!
Sadly "Breaking UpIs Hard To Do" is sadly 100% MONO it was never mixed to Stereo from the multi's at Western Recorders LA as the track was only scheduled for an episode in the TV show. Screen Gems/Columbia Pictures/Bell Records/ABC tv had no idea that they were going to have a forthcoming hit on their hands.

The various companies were inundated with calls re the song, which forced it's rush release AND addition to the due Greatest hits album frpm Bell. . The session tapes were lifted and as the track had already been mixed to mono Columbia Pictures Industries saw no need to spend any money on having the multi's mixed for Stereo (The same thought went with the two theme songs, When We're Singing and Get Happy which are still mono yet there are naturally the multis available and should in my opinion be mixed.

in 2014 Sony Entertainment as owners and custodians of Columbia Pictures Industries and having constant requests re the recordings etc funded the lifting of the multis and Breaking Up finally had is 41 year late Stereo mix and was the teaser and added bonus to their invested new CD compilation package of 2013.

Beaware that BUIHTD is NOT available in Stereo on vinyl or single anywhere globally all the countries that list it as being Stereo 7" or album have a very crude fake mix done from the mono master> UK, West Germany etc etc Note the USA 7" is 100% mono!

The other David Cassidy mono Bell gaff is "If I Didnt Care" a mono 7" and mono on the original greatest hits album. The track is now in Stereo on CD compilations.

All the UK Bell Partridge Family singles are sadly in mono, only the two other tracks on MABEL 1 are in Stereo, I Think I Love You and I'll Meet You Halfway.

Sony have just released the entire 4 seasons on a 12 DVD box set, (A tie in 7" of BUIHTD c/w When We're Singing & Get Happy in first time Stereo would make this box set, in my opinion, a very big seller, but hey ho there you go, The Hugo Montenegro incidentals and end titles would also be a dream in Stereo)
