the Hooper credited here (on Jungle Root & Riots Of Spring) is not ''Stix'' Hooper but Les Hooper.

This is a great record that should at least be on Spotify if not CD.

An amazing 2 record live program filled with an eclectic blend of percussive electronic big band and outstanding space-age experimental jazz.
Led by Dick Schory, this live set features a superb 20 piece band (brass, Phase II synthesizers, woodwind and some 250 different percussion instruments) and with special guest solists Gary Burton (vibraphone), Joe Morello (drums) and Paul Horn (flute).

I picked this up at a thrift store because I saw on Discogs it was tagged Space-Age, Free-Improvisation and that Gary Burton is on it, but it's really nothing like that, it's 95% 50s/60's upbeat soundtrack-esque classical big band jazz. Edited tags. Ask yourself, do you really want the Mission Impossible theme on vinyl? The rest of it is really not far off from that.

One of the best drum solos ever by one of the best drummers ever, Joe Morello. Check out the track 'concerto for jazz drums'.
