Reviews
- The stereo mix is disorienting with too much gimmicky panning. It's too bad, because the orchestrations and arrangements are fun. It definitely lives up to its title as the arrangements blend traditional Island ensemble with brass, accordion, organ, etc. Instruments tend to take their turns as to leave plenty of space to allow the tunes to breathe - for me, a somewhat sparse mix is an essential quality for this genre. Hawaii themed releases tend to either be small ensembles or overblown small orchestra ensembles with string sections. This is a rare LP that balances those ideas to deliver something worthwhile. I'll switch to mono when listening though b/c the gimmicky stereo mix is distracting.
