It should be noted that this pressing has the L and R channels swapped. Perhaps it is only on certain matrix number, but it is even more disappointing because the sound is great after the L and R channels are corrected correctly.
After listening to this record, I played another vinyl to check the L and R channels and they were not swapped, so it is definitely a vinyl problem.

    This is the matrix number for this vinyl. side A : Z 〄 Ⓑ 25RS 125A 111⁘⁘ E side B : Z 25RS 125B 112⁘

The 1981 Japanese pressing of HEAD contains completely different front cover artwork, while the back cover looks similar to the US release, but utilizes a slightly different color photo taken from the same "we're in a box" scene in the film. The vinyl sounds splendid, with solid dynamic range from top to bottom, and a rich, full-bodied soundstage. "Circle Sky" and "Do I Have To Do This All Over Again" in particular have rarely sounded better to my ears than they do here. My copy plays nice and clean, with just a wisp of faint surface noise at the very end of side one (the priceless "Gravy") and the first few revolutions of side two. An unexpected bonus is the lyric sheet, which attempts to provide "lyrics" for the many random spoken interludes included on the soundtrack.
