This is an absolute belter of a soundtrack...very reminiscent of John Carpenter's "Themes" with synths. My copy is dead quiet and crystal clear. Have been listening back to back for a couple of days now!
This is a great soundtrack. Done in the style of synth scores from the 70s and 80s à la Tangerine Dream etc.
The mastering on this pressing is top notch, done by the esteemed engineer John Golden. The problem though lies in the wax itself. I've had 3 copies of this and all have been warped, which leads me to believe they have been that way going into the sleeve. They also have all had surface noise. The 3rd copy I have is the least offending of warps and noise, so I'll stick with it.
Would be great if it was to be pressed by a good pressing plant e.g. Pallas, QRP, Record Industry etc. in the future. Being a film like Beyond The Black Rainbow though, this seems unlikely.
Still worth getting for the fantastic mastering by John Golden and to have a physical copy of the soundtrack. Now just to wait for a physical UK copy of the film on Blu Ray which may never come...
Does anyone know why a bunch of cheap copies of this pressing just started popping up? Had this on my want list for over a year and now there are multiple pressings available under 25 USD.
An awesome movie and the soundtrack fits perfect to it. Great analog synthesizer music in the tradition of John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream etc.! The more I listen to it the better it gets!
