- Edited 5 years agoI bought this album in 1996 on the strength of hearing Perfwct Way on the radio..mesmerized with its wordplay and use of synths and moog bass. However I was taken back by songs in a similar fashion like Small Talk, Absolute, Wood Beez and Don't Work That Hard. All of them follow this strange lyrical wordplay foreign to US styles of music at the time, still with heavy influence of US r&b and pop elements spread throughout, even hints of reggae on Wood Beez and Word Girl.
Good stuff and highly recommended especially for those into r&b, funk and pop in the 80's. Not to be missed. A near classic...his vocal ability lacked but they made up for it within the music, that's what matters most.
Bought this record 3 times now lol.
