Reviews
- One scorcher of an EP! "It's My Mind" is one of the heaviest UK psych tracks I've ever heard, with a very ominous vibe to it. Purple Wine also released a private-press album before this EP was cut, but this is the better of their two releases in my opinion.
- 'In 1971, a little-known band called "Purple Wine" (Dave Moore, Bob Tansley, Brian Cox) was commissioned by the UK Mental Health Council to create a psychedelic rock record about mental health issues. Most unsold copies were destroyed, leaving the bulk of the remaining copies with family and close friends of the band members.
A copy of the EP was sold recently on eBay for a ridiculously low price (due only to its unknown nature). Bearing in mind the present mention in SFA, the scarcity of the release and the brilliance of the A-side, a three-figure sum would seem to be a far more realistic value for what is one of the only known example of a psychedelic charity record!'
