While some of this is a little overly closely inspired by Detroit techno, it’s remarkable that two Stafford lads were able to pull this together contemporary to the release of many of the earliest Detroit classics. Sampling and referencing Detroit & Cybotron in 1989 was hardly the cliche it became later, and given limited access to both music and technology the duo certainly put what they had on hand to good use. ‘Bass Inclusion’ and ‘Logical Progression’ show strong hints of their future work as influential rave stars Altern8, another project that like this aged rather well, and the lovely vocal tracks are as crisp as anything coming from Detroit or Chicago. Mark Archer himself went on to make some of the best acid ever recorded as Trackman before quietly slipping into relative obscurity post-2000 with a formidable catalogue of classics, this one in the upper bit of the stack. Glad to see some reevaluating of these essential early pieces of UK techno history; few of their countrymen had it down quite so well as these two when this one turned up.

There really is some great tracks on here some of which feature on future releases such as "Still Life Keeps Moving", "Logical Progression", "Real Love" & "Techno Symphony", but to be fair all the tracks are pretty good & worth a listen if you are into that early Techno sound, with a Detroit feel.
I always think we never had enough Nexus 21 releases before them became Altern 8.

This is an absolutely superb LP of classic Detroit sound techno (produced by 2 English blokes) that is still very playable. Especially the track 'Logical Progression' with its repeated rock, rockets voice sample and rolling bassline.
These guys were later to (sadly) become 'Altern 8' and grace the world with dodgy rave rubbish-ness. I'm sure it was just a cashing-in thing like so many other good producers did.
What a lot of techno heads of today don't realise is just how hard to find, good techno records was unless you were in a big city and knew guys behind the counter. This is one of those rare gems that went by unnoticed by most and should be sought by all who are into the Detroit sound.
