I think it's an unusually slack quality control (for Prince) "hot" mastering issue re. light distortion on several tracks. It's also present on the CD when there's alot of dynamic & frequency action occurring.- This is one of my favorite Prince albums. 40 years after the Purple Rain album and still doing amazing music.
Loses (at least) one star for the absolutely dreadful packaging! A class album packaged like a freebie. Shameful...
Edited 10 years agoVery nice stuff. Lots of sexy-time, some powerful sweeping Purplefunk, and some sci-fi wish fulfillment. Good solid Prince for the fans.
Interestingly, I much preferred the version of Funknroll offered in the 3rdeyegirl release.- very nice solo album from Prince prooving he can make a Funky and pop ambiance over an entire album
without shame regarding what is released elsewhere now, he is unique and will remain so.
