Dynamic sounding pressing but it’s riddled with horrible surface noise and whooshing throughout. It ruins the listening experience for me. Quality control is absolute trash these days. It’s very disappointing

My copy has a misprint on the jacket spine. Instead of saying HOZIER it says “. ; U/&E” 🤣

I just one of the new batch that was just available on Amazon for $19. Feel bad for the people who paid up to our even more than $100 a few months ago. It sounds amazing I think. Counter to prior reviews saying that it's not well mastered for vinyl, I don't know. It sounds very good on my system. As far as being quiet, don't really get that either. I have my volume set at its usual level and it rocks the room. Using Rega P3 with Hana SH cartridge, Moon LP110 phono stage, Schiit Freya preamp, Acurus A250 power amp, B&W 703s

My copy plays great, Fluance RT85 with AT 540 micro line stylus (for that guy that cares entirely too much?). Maybe a slightly quiet pressing which is weird because it’s certainly not cramped with only 3-4 tracks per side… But no discernible issues during playback for me, so I’ll just bump the volume a few clicks

Nothing wrong with the physical pressing of this album. Wax is quiet. No significant pops or clicks, surface noise, etc. Unfortunately it's just a very flat sounding record. Definitely NOT mastered for vinyl. It's a shame too. Great music with real potential when properly mixed for the format. This mix is just really inconsistent from one song to the next and just sounds really muddy throughout all of the middle ranges. Sounds substantially better on CD.

I think I might have gotten lucky with the pressing I got from Amazon this week. It’s not a mindblowingly good release but it sounds nice enough. Agree that it’s a bit noisy.

Mediocre sounding pressing on a stock AT-LP120. It's fairly quiet, so I don't think it's a production problem--sounds to me that the mastering just doesn't suit the format very well. Too bad. Not terrible, like Story of the Year, or something; but not a good showing. Recommend sticking with digital.

The sound of this release is uniquely good on the format.
Presence is well placed on Hoziers vocals and most performances sound distinct even though the stereo separation isnt the strongest in the mix. Bass is very meaty and full feeling as long as you play this at the right volume which is at least 30% louder than your average release.
Of course this amplifies the pressings difficulty to remain quiet, it is done by United after all.
But given a scratch free copy most music should be undisturbed.
I say most because this cut is also great in the dynamics department and is far from compressed unlike the CD or digital download counterparts, which going back to the beginning is what sets this apart soundwise.
No excessive sibilance or distortion detected from my setup either.
If you have a thin enough stylus profile this record should mostly shine. Crank it loud and enjoy a dynamic yet slightly noisy take of Hoziers debut.

I'm considering returning mine. Not many pressings of this. I was envisioning more warmth and less dead wax. It's a chore to flip the grooves every five minutes. Also the hole is not even drilled correctly.

Same as other, bad pressing. Love the music in general, but this was a shoddy translation to vinyl. Heavy compression distortion. Where vocals should have some reverb, there is a ton of compression distortion. For the guy that keeps asking everyone about their setup... At lp3 with a nagaoka mp-150, Cambridge audio solo preamp, Sonos amp, and JBL libre c53 with le14c drivers.
