In the paragraph on the bottom of the back jacket it says "these pieces have been used in conjunction with a series of vertical format video pieces which will shortly be available on VHS and Beta cassettes." Did these VHS tapes ever materialize? A google search for "ambient 4 VHS tapes" isn't turning anything up. Did they end up going by another name?

Eno’s Ambient series takes a turn for the strange in its final work. Whereas before it was mainly about finding comfort, On Land confronts the listener.

A perfect valley of unease is created while wading through these eerie tracks. Have been using at night when reading or somesuch. Hard to say which entry is the best or my favorite, but this has gotten more repeated listens over 2 and 3.

My copy matches this one, except mine doesn’t have “Litho in Canada” on the spine.

For whatever reason, I own a copy of this with an Ambient 3 jacket. So...if anyone has just the jacket of Ambient 4 they'd get rid of, and/or a copy of Ambient 3 without a jacket, hit me up

This is by far the best album in the Ambient series in my opinion. Extremely underrated and overlooked in favor of Ambient 1

One of the copies I have of this came with a pamphlet that explains the process of "On Land". The maturation of thought and travel and recorded ambient sound that went into creating this album.

My favourite ambient record of Brian Eno. Pure sound, rarely any melody, dominated by a meditative flow of bass and spacy sinti/moog-like moods. Pianos that sound like bells, mighty and reverbareted. Some smart jungle sounds give you sometimes the feeling of being in a tropical forest. A bit like the Jon Hassel / Brian Eno ambient/world music LP but without trumpet and percussion and at halfspeed.
For the vinylists: Never had this LP without very smart crackling/vinyl distortion. Even Mint records have their little clicks or slight overdrives at ultrahigh frequencies.
