Interesting to see all the reviews on here… i think this is one of the better sounding contemporary rock records in my collection. My two criticisms are the bass (a bit far and pushed in the mix) and the distorted guitars get a little crushed into the middle of the soundstage when things really get kicking. Other than that - a really nice recording and pressing. The vocals are nice and the drums are really well recorded (for this era) - the clean guitars are deep and wide across the speakers. I have some mild surface noise at the start of the record but none elsewhere. Definitely no extreme / unlistenable treble and sibilance. Perhaps there are bad copies out there? I got mine on release day too. Perhaps this pressing is all-analog… the liner notes indicate “mastered from original analog tapes by Ryan Smith” but I guess I have no way to confirm if it was kept all-analog through the whole process.

Mine sounds decent, however the treble in the vocals is a little high with some distortion and sibilance gradually more noticeable as the record plays through.

Does anyones copy skip here and there on the first track?

I was very happy to find that my copy is quite clean with no (noticeable) sibilance!

It was, however, coated in a nice layer of paper dust, which has become far too common these days.

Can someone please explain to me why I'm paying 35 bucks for a heavyweight, "audiophile" pressing when I still have to clean it?! Not everyone has a record washer...

The treble is pretty high on this, to a fault. Those snares just sound nasty. But it's a cool piece to own.

Agreed, great album and the packaging is really nice but the pressing is pretty bad, loads of hissing on the vocals as mentioned

This is one of my favorite albums, but this repress is absolute garbage. There is a hissing sibilance on the vocals throughout the entire album. It is unlistenable. Buy it on CD instead.

Sound on this pressing is horrible. Very hissy treble, especially on the vocals. Horrible!
