some more words to make it ten - Many have come before me, but I discovered this album only quite recently. It must be said: this album reminds me of what good minimalistic house is able to do: endless grooves of simple but effective melodies... It's interesting, because the arrangement of the tracks here is much more similar to that of minimal techno than typical minimal house from back in the day, although most tracks have a very warm, more housy feeling; a sound you don't encounter a lot. In terms of sound design, there are also some interesting things to be noticed, which are all very 'minimal' in a sense: e.g. instead of constantly using all frequencies "to the max", some midrange elements only pop in when the track is halfway. Also the extreme panning of some elements adds to the whole atmosphere. This is achieved by great mastering, but not to forget, also a sublime mixdown. A very intense and beautiful album from a very gifted artist!
- Edited 10 years agoto put it simply, free access zone 2 is one of the most beautiful house tracks i've ever heard.
