Reviews
- Relax people. This is not great, but certainly not terrible either. It's decent and worth having if you don't find an original.
- DO NOT BUY THIS. its crap. Buy the 2024 version https://www.discogs.com/release/31491812-Iron-Maiden-Somewhere-in-Time- without the pitch wobble distortion on side B track 1.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdWKOErMAbg
- My 2014 reissue (purchased in 2023) sounds great and balanced. I don't have an original pressing from 1986 to compare (had one back in the 80's) but this one sounds awesome to me: Sound is clear, instrument separation is spot on and no distortion/pops/noises of any kind.
Very happy with this reissue! - Edited 10 months agoOkay. I Found OG UK pressing and Bought it. So i had to listen both. This -14 EU version is quite blurry compared to OG. Everthing is balanced and bright in OG UK version. In the -14 version sound is muddy. IT doesnt breathe. Bruces vocals are "behind". Thats the thing annoys me the most. I think i try to sell this piece of crap if somebody buys it.
- Edited 10 months agoJust listened to my new copy of this release (arrived in March 2024). I believe it is a new repress, but people and discogs do not care and throw everything in the same bag if they cannot find a difference.
It is actually a very, very, very good pressing and my opinion is totally different to the previous comments. Worth getting.
People beware! I am starting to believe that sellers feel threatened by the new releases and feel that their precious previous copies (which on occasion I find superior) are loosing value (which IS the big truth-accept it! and please lower these ridiculous prices). Well THIS IS great. If you think that the setup that I have is inferior, I can tell you in summary that it costs the amount of a sports car (details can be disclosed), not that it matters or that it would sound otherwise in my office at work with my old equipment.
Do not trust reviews that probably want to sell. Best to you all seekers!! keep listening! - Having read the comments I’ve been listening to this pressing very carefully. First of all side A is flawless. Sure I need to crank it up a bit but that’s OK.
On side B I did notice a very very slight warble during TLOTLDR, but nothing to ruin my day. There are pops at the start of Alexander The Great, which are somewhat annoying I agree. As for those minor issues it’s not a bad pressing at all. - Th US BMG version has the same exact issues as the EU release regarding pitch wobble. Do not buy this album. They did a disservice to the fans by not inspecting it themselves.
- Edited one year agoJust got a used copy, yesterday. NM condition. Gotta turn up the volume but sounds pretty good to me. Smidge of distortion on Alexander but I can live with that. Fluance RT81 & Schiit Mani 2. Would probably sound crappy without the Schiit... My favorite Dickinson era album. Thrilled to finally have it in my vinyl arsenal!
- Edited one year agoDO NOT BUY THIS PRESSING!
Many users have different issues, some say that The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner or Alexander the Great is fucking annoying. Mine are in the last two tracks of each side, a lot of crackings, I must say that on the side two the "noise" is less annoying but, damn! Sea of Madness and Heaven Can Wait have a real "scratch" and is very constant, I wanted to return it, but they told me it was pressing failure. I'm so dissapointed. Anyway I'm avoiding those songs and trying to use this LP not to have paid my money in vain until I can afford another and better version. Well at least "Heaven Can Wait" is not my favourite SIT song. I can cope with it, but I can't imagine an audiophiler buying this version, getting home and finding out such a nasty surprise. Avoid this!
