As Shaneski mentioned this tune used to cause all sorts of damage. Remembering hearing Zinc stepping up with the Origin Unkown mix at Desire @ the Roller. That bassline on the original set the pace for others to follow and arguably was responsible for about 50% of UKG which followed a couple of years later. Truly groundbreaking, I hope todays generation can experience the kind of buzz and excitement that this tune created, but I very much doubt it!!! This one tune sums up what it was all about BITD!

Pretty weird how this got released without any problems despite having that long Seal sample for the intro yet Blame had to pull the 3 second short Seal vocals off Music Takes You...

Info from Lee and Warren: Dread Bass was made in 4 hours and obviously we didn't know how big the track was going to be due to the short amount of time it took to start and complete the track. And when the track was finished, the first time we heard it we wasn't pleased at the crowd didn't react too well to this new tune as it was maybe a little different.

Timestretched dread business. That slow attack bass and the old akai timestretched samples are gold. This tune was hudge! still is.

#1 JUNGLE/DRUM & BASS TUNE EVER!!!

well, atleast in my book. i remember when it came out. Danny Breaks played in an old Chicago marble warehouse. 'Original Boom' was the name of the event. when the bassline drops, you can literally see the sine-waves floating across the room!!!

tune starts off with an angelic intro of synths, which is the sample from Seal's "Show Me."
then with little clock-like tinks of drums. an ominous time-stretched vocal anounces, "WHHHAAAT THE TIIIME YOU HAAAVE FI DREEAD!?!"

.....then a gun shot breaks the silence and the expanded, hollow bassline sound drops & drops very hard. during this era, this bassline was new, raw & fresh. one of the first, if not the first tune to use such a stretched bassline like that. sprinkles of a female vocal claiming something like, "the burning light..." during the breakdown. not sure of that sample.

MUST HAVE in your collection from the kings of B2B crew.
