    I can't remember if the Fokus UK version contains the Hendrix sample as I haven't come across one in my travels for a good couple of decades to verify. But the Hendrix vocal was definitely removed on Frequency (3) - Kiss The Sky. Both decent versions for me, with or without. The sample does add something though, it's not often I say that about vocal samples or vocals in general.

    P.S. Sky Is The Limit / Kiss The Sky Remix was being played in DJ sets long before December 1991, alongside the original version and next to tunes like Tronik House - Uptempo (Grooverider Remix) / Spark Plug / Space etc which were also circulating all through late 1991.

    I'm not that choosy with this release, I feel all the tunes are of merit and suit different moments in sets. I include Voorn's other Frequency releases (1990-1991) in that comment as well. Just an exciting and dynamic snapshot of where Techno of the Dutch and Belgian variety was at the time.

      Kiss The Sky Remix is far far superior i think personally. Track that always used to get the place going. Whistle crew!!. Defo Remix.

        For a VERY long time, I thought the lyrics were ‘excuse me, while I kiss this guy’. 🤦‍♂️. Absolutely massive tune. Especially now I know the correct lyrics.

              must say, this is the #1 oldschool rave ep for me. its just perfect.

              kiss the sky is a monster of a track. banging drums, and an amazing riff. on top of that other synth elements that build up to a break. everything fits perfectly together. no sample or synth appears cheesy or out of place (like with many other oldschool tracks), and it is exactly the right length. there is no part where it gets boring. just pure raving goodness.

              xanadu is something else. first it starts with some pretty standard but nice fairy-tale-ish synths, but then it drops into this really disturbing, out of tune melody. i dont know, what he did there. sounds like a slowed down bell thing run through a phaser or something, but besides being really disturbing, the sounds also seem to warp through your head. has a really great stereo effect. lots of change in that track later too, but the atmosphere stays mystic the whole time. dont know how big this track was back then (kinda hard to know if youre born 1996), but i have the feeling its really underrated and overshadowed by kiss the sky. probably the best track on here imo

              square methods is probably the most standard one in my opinion. happy nice rave banger, but thats it. not much to say about this one. but dont get me wrong, still a good track, but the other two are just legendary! :)

                Aside from being a haunting hardcore statement, Kiss The Sky/Sky Is The Limit has often been commented as a marker to the turning point of the happy rave vibe, and the two A-tracks interestingly hint at the dark synths of future years that still give hints back to the mentasm sounds associated with the late 80's, Joey Beltram et al.

                Curiously, tracks on the B-side (Xanadu/Square Methods) give greater reference to the then retiring techno sounds, which is strange considering the darkness which was soon to envelop the scene.

                The commerically amiable Top Buzz depicted this by ending their Fantazia 92/93 New Years Eve set at West Point by sliding 'Kiss The Sky' next to 2 Boasters, A Jammy Dodger and a Digestive's 'We're About To Take LSD'.

                  Magnificent record - so tough and so dark - Goldie was sampling the riff sound for the next 2 years - that's how influential this record was. One of Orlando's greatest pieces and one of THE most influential euro tracks on the UK hardcore scene. The Jimmy Hendrix sample was removed for the UK release.
