Nearly 5 years old already, but damn this one will easily stand the test of time...
Clearly drawing from previous landmark jungle long players such as Timeless by Goldie, Jim manages to update the quiet / loud, classical / rugged formula in his own inimitable way.
The headz will love the break heavy tracks such 'Understand' and 'Parallel', but if you want a serious trip, just stick side C on and sit back. Then, when it's done, bring it back to the edge and listen again... wow.
There's been some real good albums in this genre recently, such as 'Something Blue' by Breaks & Escher, and loads of stonking 12's, but for me, Om Unit's 'Inversion' was/is heads and shoulders above the rest. Not only is every break EQ'd, compressed, and chopped to perfection, but his deep and dark melodic side is just stunning.
To be fair, all his albums are top notch, but this one in particular has everything I need for aural bliss.
