"Hands up" samples Candi Statons' - "you got the love "
Amazing that you can buy this Dance Mania release for so little (c. $5). Agree with Dica's comments … it anticipates so much that would subsequently get released on DM, Cajual, Relief etc. The stand out for me is the dance mix of 'Hands Up', a killer disco loop track with a great Rodney Franklin sample. But the A side is a moody classic too. Should be up there with other DM classics - and def. a bargain at current prices.
Legendary Dance Mania release, and a foreshadowing of things to come from the label.
"The Bitch Is Naggin Me" concept was borrowed heavily for Green Velvet's classic Answering Machine track from '95 - recordings of an upset woman leaving an answering machine message, followed by a response from the artist on the track. Drags on a bit here, but well worth hearing. Flip is a funky house number with "hands up in the air" female vocal sample.
