Reviews
- Edited 8 months agoShout out to the fantastic sleeve notes here from OG drummer Richard Edson (aka the dude that takes Cameron’s car for a joy ride in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off). A great glimpse into New York at that time, honest and compelling - ‘these people are squares’ - worth the price of admission alone! To my ears, this press sounds great - but I don’t own any other so can’t compare.
- The album sounds really nice and super clean. I can close my eyes and hear the recording space.
The live show is super atmospheric and the sound quality is not so bad.
I was annoyed to have to pay more for a double album with a tape-recorded show as the second disc but it's actually a really nice companion and feels like a natural extension of the original album.
The pressing is dead quiet. No complaints at all. - Sound quality is pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the Youth's early years, so this isn't my favorite thing to listen to, but it is somewhat revelatory, especially the live sides. If I were a true fan of the first LP, I'd hunt down either SST or the original pressing, but at the same time, you don't get the live stuff with those issues. So, all in all, for a reissue, a good thing for the SY fan to add to the collection.
- It sounds better than I expected (live part not so much...more like how I expected).
Fascinating 1st glimpse at future genius...I miss them. - How's the sound on this? Better or worse than the SST reissue (since I know not many have the original)? Pressed at RTI is a plus, though.
