Reviews
- Edited 18 days agoSide A sounds decent but quite compressed (maybe because it was recorded this way?)
Combined with the IGD on side A "welcome to the black parade", it was abit of a bummer.
Nonetheless, I was quite impressed with side B & C's pressing. really wide with decent separation of instruments & vocals.
I do not have a OG or 2007 release which I've read is superior to the later reissues. for its price, no complains! - One of the best albums of that decade and a top 10 album of all time imo. Sounding soooo good on this press.
- I can fully confirm every good reviews below. This edition sounds amazing, super clean, deep and grave silenced. If you will have a chance to grab it - do it without a doubts!
- Think it’s a pretty good pressing! Listening to it with default tone/filters it’s a bit flat - but as many others said, it’s how it was originally recorded. If you have an amp with tone/filter controls, you’ll be able to get a really nice sound of this pressing. Super clean, no background noise on mine. Beautiful artwork and gatefold!
- Edited 3 years agoOkay so before I state my opinion I will give you my set up as I feel like it really matters when reviewing sound etc. So My Table is a Linn Sondek LP12, my amp is a NAD 322OPE and my speakers are Mix of Mission and Bose and my Stylus is the good ol Audio Technica AT95E .
THE ALBUM SOUNDS AMAZING.
Honestly Wonderful, If you have a set up that consist of more than just a Portable Player and some Small speakers of course its going to sound better.
I'm being harsh because I read so many comments trashing the sound quality (I'm not saying they weren't allowed to say that) and I was under the impression that this was going to sound like shit but then when I put it on it was really fantastic and blew me away.
Also the artwork on the cover is really great! I love James Jeans work and I'm glad they got him to bring this iconic aesthetic into reality, its truly a beautiful work and a wonderful compliment to the album. - Mixed feelings on this release. The artwork and etching works so well with the aesthetics of the album. However it really not a great sounding pressing, even compared to the original CD master. The etching is awesome but sacrifices the songs being spread out to each side. For example, having 'Welcome to the Black Parade' so close to the centre of Side A makes the inner groove distortion quite bad and doesn't do the song justice.
That being said this is a really good album, and my favourite MCR album. - I don't understand all the hate this pressing gets.
Firstly, it's not a remaster, and if you listen to the OG 2007 CD, it sounds very similar to this vinyl release. That tinny production is very much so a product of this release's time -- most, if not all pop-punk albums I own from this period suffer from that baseline compression.
That being said, this pressing is very well done. The vinyl is flat and quiet, pressed on-center, the separation of instruments is very good (comparatively speaking, of course), it's dynamic, it's CHEAP...what more could you ask for, aside from a complete remaster? Plus the etching looks cool as hell. - Edited 4 years agoWhen I was buying the record, I didn't expect a miracle, for it was quite cheap, especially for a double LP with etching. The gatefold is a nice touch, having insert with artwork and printed lyrics. The etching is good looking, first etching in my collection actually, so was looking forward to see that. The etching on side D is also on the label, nice touch. Records themselves came in paper inner sleeves, so you can imagine the dust, dirt and static it came with. Records were light, which was expected from this price point (bought them for cca 16 €?). The record surprisingly didn't have much pops after a wet cleaning (and mostly they were quiet), so that's a plus.
Edit: The audio seems a bit compressed, but that could possibly be from the source material. It's not a remaster after all.
