'The Dark Stranger' and 'Lord of the Null Lines' share some interesting parallels. Both were released in mid-93 on arguably the two biggest labels in the scene at that moment in time. Both mark the final hurrah of out there experimental hardcore, before the scene fragmented into segmented jungle and happier flavours with clearer rules and templates.

Each track was eclipsed in terms of popularity by amazing, but more accessible, jungle remixes from Origin Unknown and Foul Play respectively. As a result, the original mixes were a little overlooked, but both are creative masterpieces.

The original mix of Dark Stranger is unsettling due to the sheer number of mental gears it shifts through. So many layers of samples. Kraftwerk's hits Electric Cafe and Numbers are combined and then other 80s tracks are hurled into the mix. Such great use of pitch shifting on the drums. Loads of dramatic synth noises. Each breakdown offering something new and different, building towards a psychotic climax.

Whole beat and stab loop sampled from : 'Prince Lover Dalu ‎– All Praise'. This features on Dark Stranger. This is also the main loop used in the Origin Unknown Remix. The loop sampled from 'All Praise' is about 20 seconds in and again at 2.50mins. I wish I had done it!! Classic:)

Im trying to trace the origins of the sample in this record which is sung and sounds like "Girl im starting to loose it" which would be usefull info as many other samples have been quoted in this and the remixes.
