- Edited 4 months agoA very thorough, highly listenable examination of the basement tapes. Beautifully-packaged, in an impressive clamshell type box, the lovingly-designed booklet contained inside features a host of nostalgic black and white photographs. As for the music itself, well, these strange, embryonic recordings have an almost mythic, out-of-this-world quality, quite unlike anything else of its time. The fascinating songs and hypnotic musicianship weave a kind of magic leaving the listener spellbound. This is music that will delight, educate and reward in equal measure. Bob Dylan and The Band - at their earthy, irresistible best.
