Various – Rave Energy (Rhythms From The Darkside)

This video and its associated 3" CD contains half an hour of some of the finest breakbeat hardcore that you will ever hear. I have searched for years in the hope that some of this material was pressed to vinyl, but so far I have drawn a blank. The only related release I have managed to find are these remixes Missing Presumed Dread - Rave Energy: Hardcore which unfortunately bear no resemblance to the late '92 to early '93 style breakbeat roughage that you will find here. Seems odd to me that the artist would go to the effort of pressing up remixes but none of the original material!?

I'm convinced that Missing Presumed Dread must be a more established artist working under a pseudonym. The production seems far too solid for someone who just had a crack for the sake of this single video release. There are a lot of shouts to Reinforced artists on the insert, and from memory there are a couple of shots of some Reinforced/Metalheadz tees in the video, so I always wondered if there was a possible connection there... but then it really doesn't sound anything like what was coming out of that camp at the time. To my ears this sounds very similar to the type of stuff that Orca or Sub Love were doing, but it's all just pure guesswork from me...
