Track "A Voyage With The Stars" sounds much better slowed down by -3.00%. Try it out yourself

We are very blessed as a small community to have a label that releases music that from a bygone era. It's a lot of work recovering the past and putting it all together in a release today. This is a 3-disc compendium of older goa trance sometimes referred to as "proto goa" from the far east. It can sound somewhat rudimentary and lacking the lush layer rich sound of the mid nineties. And that's ok. As chimushi stated this is an important piece for any collector of goa trance music. For the KURO and Charm discs it's loaded with this type of goa which I found decent if underwhelming. The absolute stellar tracks from these projects have already been released on compilations like Tokyo Tekno Tribe 2, Forever Psychedelic 2, and Goa Inside 2. The tracks located here while nowhere near as bombastic, are still quite creative. My favorite disc was the first half of the third one which was comprised of more of the type of goa which I like. The sound is great according to my ears and I'm glad I purchased this. While nowhere near my favorite DAT Records offering, I believe its audience are those that are looking for goa history that isn't all layers, melodies, and climaxes.

First of all, thanks to DAT Records for taking the time to put this excellent compilation together of some really well done, early, Classic Goa Trance from Japan.. This is a must have for any serious collector of Classic Goa Trance. Thanks to Draeke at DAT Records.

I am very excited to add some quality releases from the years 1992-1994 to my collection as I am very much into the history of Classic Goa Trance. This compilation fills in a very special place in the early history of Classic Goa Trance. For me there was a lot to like here on this comp, but for me to buy a compilation there has to be a few tracks that I absolutely Love. Well, besides several tracks that I liked, there were 3 tracks that I Loved: Tracks 6 [Planet 1996] and Track 11 [Magnolia] on Disc 1 by Kuro and track 6 [Trance Warp-A Voyage with the stars] on disc 3. It doesn't say when those first 2 tracks were made on Disc 1, but they sound like around 1994 to me. Track 6 on Disc 3 was made in 1992 and was only released in Japan. So great to hear this high quality track from 1992. If you haven't listened to the older Goa Trance made from 1991 to 1994, you might find some of the tracks [but not all] to be a bit clunky and lacking complexity, compared to Goa Trance from 1995-1998, but what I Loved and still Love about the early sound of Goa Trance as a whole, is the incredible simple rawness, innocence and passion that is being brought to a whole new genre of music that hasn't really even been named yet. [in Japan]. New technologies needed to make this music were also being created anew at the same time, so you have some real pioneering creativity being evolved here in the earliest tracks on this comp. Also try to imagine how difficult it was to create some of these early tracks especially because there wasn't even a Goa Trance scene to be inspired by in Japan at the time. So hats off to the artists for their very important creative contribution to the early years of Goa Trance. Much respect and many thanks!

I was not sure what to expect, having only heard one k.u.r.o. release prior to this one, but was extremely happy with this very thorough compilation of k.u.r.o. and charm early recordings. with three discs of relentless futuristic cyber room hypnojams it really does immerse the listener in a very specific world of japanese trance music. quite a few of these tracks date back to the early 90s and one can't help but imagine what it was like in the japanese scene at the time. it also should be noted that the design is really impressive. super trippy colorful hi resolution packaging fits the tone of the music perfectly. it is great to have access to this collection of music

For anyone wondering about the mastering, DR ratings are in the 6-7s (compared with 8-10s on Various - Trance Foundation). Typical low score, unfortunately, of DAT Records releases.
