Reviews
- So Red the Rose still slaps, and I purchased this new as an eighties teen! My copy is still in great shape!
- Beautiful sound on this release. Great album too! Was able to snag a copy for 8 bucks in near mint condition from Reckless Records in Chicago☺️
- Glad there are others who appreciate this gem. From the irresistible throb of Election Day all the way through, it's awesome. And the sound is huge! The production is immaculate, it's a treat for the ears. I grabbed a sealed copy from my LRS, probably overpaid tbh but I don't regret it. Sounds spectacular. Very good press
- Simply a massive underrated gem. It’s should be in same league as Talking Heads, etc. Great sonic treat from my copy too.
- The darker side of early Duran Duran was/is my favorite side of the band. You couldn't go wrong with an entire album in that same vein of songwriting. There isn't a bad track on it. It was ahead of it's time in 1985. I think it may still be ahead of it's time, honestly. It's a masterpiece throughout.
- The most Duran Duran album if it weren’t for the fact that the other two Taylors aren’t in this at all. The guests more than make up for their absence, and deliver an amazing treasure trove of gems like Election Day, Goodbye is Forever, The Promise, and El Diablo. The album cover illustration was designed by Tony Viramontes, a fashion illustrator who also designed the album covers for other recording artists like Janet Jackson, and Donna Summer to name a few. So Red the Rose is an instant classic from start to finish, and you won’t want to skip through the tracks at all.
- Duran Duran really wanted to be Japan (the band) and this records shows it.
But there are some really nice tracks on this one. Mark Egan plays a wonderful fretless and Grace Jones and Sting makes an appearance.
I love this record. And the cover is brilliant. - What an all star guest list in this little gem. Duran Duran for the most part but visits fro David Gilmour, Sting, Pat Methaney to name a few. This is the only recording they did as Arcadia and it went Platinum. If you did a needle drop and didn't tell me who it was I would say Duran Duran. Its brilliantly mixed and will be aa classic.
