- Akwaaba's second album, TOO SHINY, continues their brand of sunny, dub-inflected house. A bit of sax jazz ghosts its way in "Dudeos" and some Caribbean percussion beats its way into the electro-fied "Munkey." The easygoing island vibes make "Msafiri" an Afro-paradise, and "Rolande Zephone" just wanders its own, mellow way. Not everything is as successful, however: "Velvet Vouchers" seems to meander a bit too much. Luckily the stronger tracks, like the 80s-tinged "Risque Du Choc" make up handily for those. Too shiny? Nah, just shiny enough, I'd say.
