Reviews
- My memory's fuzzy. But I remember a junky dude called Roy who founded Froit head. The name came from a schitzophrenic/genius he "Roy" knew in Whangarei. Roy wrote a big chunk of the bands material; including some of the tracks on this album. Influenced the concept. It's an insight into the bands arrogance that they don't mention him in the credits of this disk. It's not the same band. Listen to Pseudopodia you judge. I personally saw 'Froit head' in Palmerston North play at an old venue called 'The Super Liquor Man' It was just Roy n Claire in 92. It was nasty 'in a good way' I then caught them again in 93 at the power station. Rob had joined. The following set ... Words can't capture the size of the sound. The best rock experience I've ever had, second only to 'Tool' in 2002. I use the word 'rock' very loosely. More like machine powered death metal. Grind stone is very well engineered. This I'd say would be the genius hand of Rob. Their sound definitely changed for the better when Rob joined just as it changed for the worst when Roy left. I love the idea and love my copy one of 30 I found under my bed when I moved into a flat in Palmy of grind stone. But it's not the 'Froit head' I remember. You have to be angry to play angry music. Check out Pseudopodia if you want to hear drug addled mansonesk dirty rock Froit head not to mention the 3 other great bands on the disk for your money including the mighty 'Ethiopian lard farmers' if you can get a copy.
