This just needs to have a super quality master press to vinyl. This just needs to happen. This album is too good to be relegated to digital playback.

Dark and ambient, Time (The Revelator) is the product of Welch and Rawlings taking full control of the wheel. Rawlings assumes the role of producer, wherein the final product was then released under their new record label, Acony Records.

Upon first listening, connoisseurs of Welch may notice a distinct difference in the focus of the production. Rawlings wraps the entire album in a soft, atmospheric haze while Welch's descriptive lyrics spin stories and evoke sparse, line-like imagery when one's eyes are closed. There's an overall musical cohesiveness and narrative that I liken to a concept album, but others may disagree. Time (The Revelator) remains to this day, timeless and (arguably) the greatest album of Welch and Rawlings' career as a duo.

Highlights include (author notes that every song on this album is relevant and wonderful): Elvis Presley Blues, April 14th, Everything Is Free, and I Dreamed A Highway.

When is this going to get a proper vinyl release?

When will any of her albums be released in vinyl? I was surprised they had yet to be, considering how much Welch and Rawlings are into all things vintage (studio, cars, clothes, equipment, etc), so vinyl seems like a natural progression. I guess if Neko Case can finally release a record, then there's hope for Welch!
