Ghost (32) – Meliora

Had to give this a DEEP clean, seems to have fixed the skip during Absolution. There is still a ton of surface noise throughout the album, including awful pops during Cirice. Not a great pressing unfortunately.

I've bought this twice now, once used and most recently new, and have had the same skipping issues both times. Look closely and you'll see tiny dents in the record.

Crazy to see this one rise in price. It's a fairly basic release, but it does sound quite good. Straight out of the sleeve I had a skip just before the solo in He Is, but after a clean it hasn't been heard again. The book is a nice addition as always, but damn the Scandinavian pressings are so much better with the gatefold and book glued into the sleeve.

I guess I lucked out, because aside from some surface noise and the occasional pop, my copy of this actually sounded pretty good. Now, I won’t say it was much better quality-wise than the CD, but there were definitely some spots where it shined over the CD/streaming (From the Pinnacle, He Is).

I picked up my copy of this used from a record store, not new, so I don’t know if that might have something to do with it.

Unfortunately warped to the point of only playing in the right channel for several tracks. If you want Meliora on vinyl, look to the Scandinavian releases. Loma Vista bungled this one.

I have the same experience with side 2 skipping like a mofo.

Quality of this pressing is terrible. Two records from Memphis Record Pressing (the company pressing Meloria) and both were warped bad enough to alter pitch during playback. Not only were they considerably warped, but the records had heavy brush like scratches and swirls all over the record; the records looks practically used.

My first purchase was Ghost's Meliora. Upon discovering the warping, poor playback, and scuffs, I returned the album to the record store (The Sound Garden in Baltimore, MD). I exchanged it for the deluxe version of the same Ghost album. This double record edition suffered the same issues. Warping, poor playback, and considerable scuffs (also pressed by Memphis Record Pressing).

I have albums from the 70s that play, look, and sound better than what I have received from here. I would suggest staying far away from anything pressed by this company. It's a shame as I really wanted to own this album on vinyl.

This pressing, or at least my copy, sounds crystal clear on the first side. Possibly a little inner groove distortion, but on my setup it's barely noticeable. However, I am extremely disappointed in the second side's quality. On "Absolution," it skips unfortunately at a quiet section of the song making it extremely noticeable. This on its own wouldn't be too bad; disappointing, yes, but it's not the worst that could happen. No, sadly the last song is the worst skipping on a newer release of an album I've ever heard. I must have counted 20+ instances of skipping in succession, making the ending to a fantastic album basically unlistenable. I don't know if it's just my copy, so if anyone has had a similar experience with their copy I'd love to know.
