- I felt it vitaly important to note something quite remarkable about the track: ‘Twisted Bungle’
Firstly, just to note: I am sorry to disappoint many of you with the fact that I am not the greatest fan of most Hardcore tracks, despite my respect for what it paved the way for. I am probably a fan of 30-50 tracks of the genre.
Despite this fact, I do find the crossover from Hardcore to Jungle in 92’/93’ as a fascinating time, & that’s how I ended up hearing this track off of Loftgroover’s set of Good Friday, 1993.
I skipped through most of the set, in search of something interesting & I was completely blown away by the segment that starts at 3:53 on Twisted Bungle.
It is consists of a funky, half-time? rhythm on the Kick & Snare, with some lovely smooth stabs, a rising sine wave, sub-bass, & some Mentasm action.
The reason I find it so remarkable, is this one section is about 30 years ahead of it’s time. It barely sounds as if it’s aged, probably due to the uniqueness of the rhythm.
If, like me, you enjoy the likes of modern Drum & Bass from the likes of Loxy’s Cylon, Samurai Music, Ink’s Architecture & artists such as Gremlinz, Friske, Loxy, Ink et al. Then you will hear whole tracks that have a sound that is very reminiscent of that one minute period in Twisted Bungle.
I absolutely love finding sounds of the future from the past, & especially love unusual Drum patterns as heard in this track (for the era.)
If anyone has any Hardcore recommendations that perhaps aren’t necessarily your favourite tracks, but have some parts of the track that sound incredibly ahead of its time, like in this; I’d be incredibly grateful if you may please share them with me.
Thank you in advance, & big respect to S.M.F. For inadvertently producing the future (or inspiring the future) in 93’! - twisted bungle sounds like Drexciya if they were located in Hackney. Yes, it's that good. aquatic accelerated synapses snapping high tech funk.
