I bought this 12" earlier this year when I had hit an emotional rock bottom. I was failing my college classes and just couldn't see a way out. I started copiously buying things just to feel a little bit better. In hindsight I really wish I hadn't spent as much as I did, but one thing I didn't regret was getting this EP. Coincidentally (or maybe not), after rinsing this 12" and feeling all 4 tracks speak to me in a different way, the clouds in my head all just dissappeared. I'm back in college with different classes and enjoying it alot more. I would like to believe that The Genesis Project EP helped me with that.

Anyways, from a technical aspect Intense was decades ahead of their time. It is almost impossible to believe these tracks were produced in 1993. Every synth has so much depth to it, every break is expertly chopped and pitch-shifted. These guys took Jungle to a new dimension.

One question though, does anyone know who made the illustration on the B-side sticker? Looks badass. I would guess its Dave Nodz, but I'm not positive.

All four tracks are quality. Didn't hear it played out much in 94, but feel fortunate to have my copy as going for silly money now.

Not much I can add that hasn't been said, other than its so ahead of its time. The breaks are so tight, the soundscapes created are so deep. This is heavy weight quality. A varied mixture of tearing Amens and more intelligent floaty stuff.

Equal parts timeless and flawless. Has to be all about TSC (for me, at least). Real tough breaks overlayed with that ethereal mystique that makes these kinds of tunes so intoxicating to listen to. This dark but dream-like vibe is something people such as Breakage, early Noisia and even Djrum went on to explore, but it's always been in pure and deep jungle that this space has come to its full realisation.

Just echoing the below comments really. Intense were in a different league.. From the early hardcore stuff all the way through to DnB love everything they produced.. All four tracks on this one are worthy of a gushing write up ! big nod to the Dope remix of the quickening as well absolutely brilliant! ..hard to pick a favourite for me, the title track is jaw dropingly ahead of the game though, all four tunes have such depth and creativity. One of the best (if not the best) four track EP's to grace the jungle music scene IMHO still to this day for me.. Salute everyone involved! A record I will treasure till my time is up.
