Recommendations
Reviews
- This review holds for all four of the Rhino issues which are of fantastic quality and hold up very well against original pressings.
The artwork recreation is also excellent on these. As well as the nice double LP format, the covers are colourful, solid and very sharp looking. One of the frustrating elements of the MOV reissues - is that they often as not just take the CD cover and enlarge it. AOTY looked absolutely awful and low res for example. Here they've taken a lot of care with the original artwork, which is a real bonus.
Anyway... strongly recommend this, and the other 3 in this series. With the bonus materials (which are where the CD versions really come into their own) they are as close to the definitive documenting for each of these albums.
I really dont get the negativity on some of the reviews - maybe they got a bad copy, or have equipment issues. Sometimes you need to clean an LP even if it's brand new. The idea that they are inferior pressings is nonsense. - Love the album, but this vinyl version just doesn’t cut it - sounds overly compressed, no sound stage or separation, not remarkable.
Yet FNM are capable of great SQ, as I also have album of the year on vinyl (https://www.discogs.com/release/9027018-Faith-No-More-Album-Of-The-Year), which sounds leagues ahead in terms of production.
Still fun to crank - don’t get me
wrong - just not not something you’d use to showcase how good the genre/period can sound on vinyl. - Why are "Crack Hitler" "Midnight Cowboy" labelled as non album tracks? as far as I am awre they are on all copies of the album?
- Edited 8 years agoThe sides seem like they are way too long. Sides A and B are 25 minutes each. LPs should stick to 18-20 minutes. This would explain the bad noise that people are reporting.
