A truly superb album. Catherine Howe's vocals are a joy to listen to. The album's folkiness is complimented with subtle orchestral arrangements and jazzy embelishments, giving it a pastoral yet grand quality that sounds timeless.

The record comes in a beautiful gatefold sleeve but its such a shame that the original front artwork has been replaced with a photograph from the original back cover (with the label's large logo weirdly positioned near the centre of the sleeve!?). At least the inner sleeve is a replica of the original artwork. I'd imagine the decision to do this was made to avoid preconceptions of the music being twee and saccharine. Another minor gripe is that gatefold sleeve has an excessively wide spine (larger than many double albums in my collection).

The record itself sounds stunning - this is where the real magic is. An original copy will easily be out of most people price range but thankfully this reissue has been handled with care and it really is noticeable. The vinyl is flat, free of surface noise and it really brings out the subtle detail in the quieter moments.
